What does each configuration link change?
An endpoint is the server address and port the connection uses. It is not the public IP address websites see. A profile is a saved name and endpoint, not a complete set of network, routing or application settings.
| Link starts with | Result in Desktop v3.11.0 |
|---|---|
oblivion://endpoint@ |
Replaces the current endpoint. Leaves profiles and the connection method alone. |
oblivion://profile@ |
Adds a named endpoint to the profile list. Does not select it or change the current method. |
oblivion://warp@, gool@, cfon@, psiphon@ or masque@ |
Changes the method, endpoint and connection parameters. Does not create a profile or copy routing rules. |
The configuration wiki dates URI support to v2.8.5. The behavior below was checked against v3.11.0, including its import code. Do not assume every newer parameter works in older builds.
Read the link, then import it
- Disconnect. Note your current endpoint, method, IP selection, Reserved setting and, for Psiphon, country. Keep any existing profile names and addresses you need.
- Read the entire link in a text editor. Check the part before
@, the address after it, and every parameter after?. Import applies changes without a preview or confirmation screen. - Copy one complete link. Return to Oblivion’s main Connect screen, switch to another window and back, then click the paste icon that appears in the top bar. Pasting into the Endpoint field is a different operation; that field expects an address and port.
- Open Scanner → Profile to check an added profile, or Scanner → Endpoint to check a changed address. For a settings link, also inspect the Warp settings tab and Scanner options.
- If the stored values are correct, connect and test the site or app you need. A “config added” message confirms an import, not a working connection. If it fails, disconnect and restore your recorded values.
The paste icon depends on reading the clipboard when the main window gains focus. If it does not appear, recopy plain text beginning exactly with oblivion://, without a space, quote or message heading before it. Return to Connect and focus the window again. This workflow is confirmed in the main-screen handler.
Link formats and profile names
These use documentation-only addresses. Replace them with your own endpoint; they are not working configurations.
oblivion://[email protected]:2408
oblivion://[email protected]:2408#home
oblivion://[email protected]:2408?ip=v4&reserved=1
oblivion://[email protected]:2408?location=us&ip=v4&reserved=0
oblivion://[email protected]:443
Use address:port, or [IPv6-address]:port for an IPv6 endpoint. A method must match the endpoint’s protocol; changing gool to masque does not make the same endpoint compatible.
For names, use 3–10 Latin letters, digits, spaces, hyphens or underscores, such as home or mobile_4g. Imported names become lowercase and are shortened to ten characters; names shorter than three characters become untitled. Arabic names and percent-encoded names such as home%20net do not import correctly. The manual name field also removes Arabic letters.
Use only one port. An older wiki example contains :1002:2506; v3.11.0 can store that malformed profile, although its Endpoint editor rejects the address. Acceptance is not validation. These limits were checked with the tagged parser and name sanitizer.
Which parameters overwrite my settings?
This table applies to method/settings links, not to profile or endpoint links. In v3.11.0, leaving a parameter out does not always preserve your previous choice.
| Part | Meaning and effect in v3.11.0 |
|---|---|
Method before @ |
warp, gool, psiphon/cfon, or masque. cfon is converted to Psiphon. MASQUE is confirmed here for 3.11.0, not all 2.8.x releases. |
Address after @ |
Replaces the endpoint. Does not choose the public exit IP or its country. |
ip=v4 / ip=v6 |
Sets the scanner’s IP-family preference. Missing or invalid values reset it to Automatic. With a custom endpoint, the Scanner selector is disabled; the endpoint itself must suit your network. |
location=us |
Selects a supported Psiphon country. Missing or unsupported values clear the saved country; for other methods this field is cleared too. It is not a country selector for WARP, Gool or MASQUE. |
reserved=0 / reserved=1 |
Turns the Reserved option off/on. Missing or invalid values set it to on. Off passes a 0,0,0 override to the connection core; on uses the core’s normal behavior. Preserve your known working value. |
license=YOUR-LICENSE |
Historical parameter. The parser can still store a valid-looking value and replace an existing key. Missing, empty or rejected values leave the old key in storage. This is not a way to clear it. |
Do not add a license to a shared link. v3.11.0 has no visible license-entry control in its settings page, and passing the key to the connection core is disabled. A parsed key is not proof of WARP+ activation. See the settings UI and core arguments. Network mode, DNS and routing rules are not backed up by these links.
Create, view, edit and switch profiles
- Open Scanner → Profile. Enter a short name and endpoint, then press + to add the entry to the list.
- Press Update to save the list and close the window. Adding a row alone does not finish saving. If Update adds the filled fields but leaves the window open, press it again after the row appears.
- Reopen Profile to confirm the entry. Hover its name to see the address, or click its pencil to load the name and address into editable fields. Change them, press the pencil beside the fields, then Update.
- To use it, open Scanner → Endpoint → Suggested, choose the profile name, check the address and press Update. Reopen Endpoint to confirm it stayed saved, then connect.
Selecting a profile changes only the endpoint. If you saved one address for WARP and another for MASQUE, select the matching method separately. Editing a saved profile also does not automatically change an endpoint already selected from it. See the profile editor and endpoint selector.
Keep a backup and remove a profile
For a small, portable endpoint-profile backup, keep a private text note with each name and address, or construct one oblivion://profile@address:port#name link per line. Recreate the profiles manually or import those links one at a time. Verify the list afterwards. This is not a full-settings export: record method, Reserved, IP selection and other settings separately. A new device or network may need different endpoint values.
To remove an entry, open Scanner → Profile, click its ×, then Update. Removing a profile does not remove its address from the active Endpoint setting. To stop using that address, select another endpoint or choose Default in the Endpoint window and press Update. Default returns to automatic endpoint scanning; it does not restore every old setting. To undo deletion, recreate the entry from your note.
How many profiles? Can I import a file?
The manual editor allows seven profiles. The v3.11.0 clipboard importer has an inconsistent limit: it accepts an eighth entry but refuses a ninth. Use seven as the practical limit and remove an unused entry if adding one has no effect. An exact duplicate name-and-address pair is not added again. A profile link also refuses the default scanning address engage.cloudflareclient.com:2408; return to that address with Default in the Endpoint window.
There is no .txt/.json bulk-import or full-profile export control in the checked interface. A text file is useful as your own backup note, not as a supported import format. Issue #1047 requested file import and a higher limit; closing the request does not establish those features. The limits above were reproduced in the released Linux v3.11.0 interface.
When a shared configuration does not work
- Nothing appears: check the paste icon, the
#namefor a profile, supported name characters, duplicates and the profile limit. Retry one plain-text link, not a message containing several links. - A profile is saved but the endpoint did not change: select it in Endpoint → Suggested and press Update. Adding a profile does not activate it.
- The wrong method or options are now selected: restore your recorded values. A method link overwrites omitted IP, location and Reserved options; deleting a profile will not undo that import.
- The value disappears or the endpoint window becomes blank: restart the app without connecting, then reopen Scanner. If the window opens, correct the address or choose Default and Update. If it stays blank, preserve your backup and collect the app version, OS and logs using the help guide; do not keep importing the same link.
- Import succeeds but connection fails: confirm the method and endpoint belong together, then try your previous working settings. An address shared for another ISP, device or date is not guaranteed to work on yours. Continue with connection troubleshooting.
Configuration editing and clipboard imports were tested on the released Linux x64 v3.11.0 app in an isolated environment, without making a tunnel connection. Windows/macOS clipboard behavior and live endpoint reachability were not tested. The Desktop repository is archived; this guide covers the Electron Desktop product, not the separate Oblivion app.
